Dr. Andy obtained a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Furman University in 2009 with extensive training in the Scientific Method, reading and writing scholarly articles, and a tendency to be skeptical about ANY topic until he saw the peer reviewed research to back it up.
So when Dr. Andy started his career as a Doctor of Chiropractic Medicine, he approached it as would any young scientist. Show me the proof was his favorite challenge to every new topic discussed in class. And the proof is there! Below are just a few of the many peer-reviewed journal articles written by some of the leading health care scientists and clinicians that Dr. Andy came into contact with in school and in practice.
Annals of Internal Medicine. Manual Therapy (like a chiropractic treatment) found to be superior to physical therapy and conventional, conservative treatment. Added 1/24/14.
The Spine Journal. Spinal manipulative therapy found to be effective for short, intermediate, and long-term acute low back pain. Added 1/24/14.
Annals of Internal Medicine. Chiropractic treatment found to be more successful in treating acute and subacute neck pain than prescription medicine. Added 2/11/14.
Journal of Manipulative and Physiological Therapeutics. For patients with neck pain, the benefits of chiropractic treatment far outweigh any risks (if any) associated with care. Added 4/10/14.
Journal of Manipulative and Physiological Therapeutics. Chiropractic care is found to be better than massage and just as effective as prescription medications for chronic headaches. Added 4/10/14.
